Portrait Of Anne Neville, Queen Of England Anne Neville: Richard III S Tragic Queen

Anne Neville was born in 1456, the daughter of Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, and Anne Beauchamp. She was a descendant of both the House of York and the House of Lancaster, making her a potential pawn in the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars that had been ravaging England for decades.

In 1470, at the age of fourteen, Anne was betrothed to Edward of Westminster, Prince of Wales, the son of King Henry VI. However, the marriage never took place, as Edward was killed in battle later that year. In 1472, Anne married Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who would later become King Richard III.

As queen, Anne was a popular and beloved figure. She was known for her beauty, her intelligence, and her piety. She was also a devoted wife and mother. However, Anne's happiness was short-lived. In 1483, her only son, Edward, died suddenly at the age of ten.

Anne was devastated by the loss of her son. She died a year later, in 1485, at the age of twenty-nine. Her death is believed to have been caused by a combination of grief and illness.

Anne Neville was a tragic figure. She was born into a time of great turmoil and violence, and she suffered greatly as a result. However, she was also a strong and courageous woman who never gave up hope. Her story is a reminder of the human cost of war and the power of love.
