Boeing Field is a historic airport located in Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 1916 and is one of the oldest continuously operating airports in the United States. The airport has played a major role in the development of aviation in the Puget Sound region and has been home to many important aerospace companies, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Alaska Airlines.

The airport is named after William Boeing, who founded the Boeing Company in 1916. Boeing Field was originally a private airfield used by the Boeing Company for testing and development of its aircraft. However, in 1928, the airport was opened to the public and became a major hub for commercial aviation in the Puget Sound region.

During World War II, Boeing Field played a major role in the war effort. The airport was used as a base for military aircraft and was also used for the production of Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses. After the war, Boeing Field continued to grow and became a major hub for commercial aviation in the Pacific Northwest.

In the 1960s, Boeing Field was expanded to accommodate the growing demand for air travel. A new terminal was built and the airport's runways were extended. In the 1970s, Boeing Field became home to the Museum of Flight, which is one of the largest aviation museums in the world.

Today, Boeing Field is a thriving airport that serves the Puget Sound region. The airport is home to a variety of airlines, including Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines.
